ALPHABET WORKSHEETS SMALL LETTERS PDF DOWNLOAD
An alphabet is a set of letters or symbols that we use to represent the basic speech sounds of a language in writing. The English alphabet consists of 26 letters. Each letter has an uppercase ("capital letter") and a lowercase ("small letter") form. Five of the letters in the English Alphabet are vowels: A, E, I, O, U. The remaining 21 letters are consonants: B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, Z, and usually W and Y.
We can write each letter of the English alphabet as a "small letter" (abc) or as a "capital letter" (ABC). Large letters are also called "capitals" or "uppercase".
Small letters are sometimes called "lower case". This is because in the old days of printing, before computers, the metal blocks for setting type were kept in two different boxes or "cases": small letters in the bottom or lower case, large letters in the top or upper case.
Typically, children are ready to start writing their lowercase letters the summer before kindergarten. By this time, they have had an opportunity to gain experience writing capitals and learning to recognize lowercase letters. Many Pre-K children will write lowercase letters in their names.
Here you can download a printable PDF file which contains 26 A4 sheets. There are all 26 small letters of the english alphabet. Kids can color a picture starting with a sound, color one lowercase letter per page and recognize-color the same letter in a word.
They are independent coloring pages so that we can help a kid starting recoginizing the english alphabet at Nursery school, Kindergarten or if learning as Second Language at the Pre Junior or Junior A class.
